A contemporary play that follows the unusual love story of two injured people from the age of 8 to 38, peeking in our their lives every five years. CONCEPT: “A Sterile world with blue collar sensibilities.” Because most of the play takes place in medical environments we wanted to use X-rays to show the medical side and plastic surfaces to illustrate the sterile and icy textures. These elements are all incorporated into a cold, urban playground setting to perpetuate the blue collar world that the characters inhabit. THE GREEN ROOM: A Sustainable Theatre Initiative. For this show I wanted to incorporate some sustainable options into my set design. To cut down on both cost and environmental impact we used recycled and bio degradable materials, finding lumber sourced from foresters with sustainable practices, and using local vendors whenever possible-this production's design will have cut it's CO2 emissions in half (in comparison to a set design not using these sustainable practices). In addition, the show was built so that the materials will be donated and re-used after strike. This means that the materials will produce more our art in our community and not simple go in the dumpster.
