SET AND LIGHT DESIGN w/ Projections
John Proctor is the Villain is a sharp, contemporary play set in a Georgia high school where a group of teenagers grapple with literature, identity, and the messy truths about power, desire, and morality. As their classroom discussions of The Crucible collide with their lived experiences, the students’ personal struggles illuminate how the past and present mirror each other. The set and lighting design present the high school environment as fragmented and abstract—seen through the eyes of the teenagers who inhabit it. Broken lines, shifting spaces, and heightened contrasts reflect their turbulent emotions and fractured perspectives. At the play’s climax, projection transforms the stage into the woods, underscored by the song Green Light. In this moment, the fragmented world converges, offering a fleeting sense of unity and clarity within the chaos. |
